I enjoyed this taboo love story.
It wasn't typical at all and how it played out was well ... naughty and sexy but they were lying to themselves if they thought they could just have a summer together ...

The Sterling twist was - odd. It felt like wow, but then it felt left field! So connected yet so - not.

The ending was real. I see some people hated it but I felt that is true life - Theo would and should move on for his daughter. How they moved on seemed faster than one would assume but again, sometimes you meds a person to help you mend a broken heart.

I am excited to see what the next book brings.

Shanora Williams is a new-to-me author, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I enjoyed her writing style and will definitely pick up more of her books. That being said, this book wasn't my usual brand of catnip. Some bits of the story were over-the-top angsty and too dramatic for me (I'm referring to the Sterling and Trixie situation). I know my personal preferences are totally subjective, so if drama/angst is your thing you will totally love this book!

I need my romance books to have solid HEA's. Dear Mr. Black didn't end like a traditional romance novel. I'm not going to give anything away in the form of spoilers, but from what I've read in other reviews, Chloe and Theo get a (true? better?) HEA in the second book . . . enough said )

Oh, Shanora Williams! You stole my heart with this book. I will never forget Theo Black and his little Knight. Their secret rendezvous, close calls and Dirty Black. It will all hold such a special place in my heart. I. Loved. This. Book.

Dear Mr. Black is a story of love, temptation, regret and growing up. Following Chloe and Theo's story as they both try and work through the whirlwind of emotions happening within them was an absolute emotional roller coaster. I love how Shanora Willams let you see through the different layers of the characters in this story because it made you feel so much deeper for Chloe and Theo. Being in their heads while they battle right and wrong and love and lust was beautiful and heartbreaking. I will say that this book was definitely more realistic for me than a lot of other forbidden romances I have read. How this story came to an end was absolutely perfect. Which, made it seem even more like something that could happen in real life. If it hasn't already. Are you keeping something from us Shanora? Just kidding. Maybe.

Can't stress how much I loved this book. If I could give this book more stars I would. Well, technically I could but you know what I mean. Dear Mr. Black will have you flipping page after page wanting more and when you think you can't take anymore Shanora will give it to you one last time! Don't pass this one up.
This was such an unexpected great read for me! I picked it up on a whim and started reading. And let me tell you I didn't put it down until I was done a few hours later. What I loved the most about this story were the feels! The story starts out quickly. It's not prolonged because you know from the synopsis what the book is about and I wanted the intensity early on and that's what I got.

Chloe Knight is 12 years old when she moves to Primrose Way in Bristle Wave County, California. Chloe immediately hits it off with Isabelle Black the next door neighbor who is also 12. They become best friends and through the years Chloe becomes a regular in the Black household. Right away Chloe notices Izzy's father, Mr. Black. He's a handsome guy, rides a motorcycle and she finds him intriguing. However, he's a happily married man, that just so happens to be a cool father. What may have began as a crush over time developed into real feelings and emotions toward Mr. Black. Nothing happens between the two until Chloe is 18 and an adult, so no worries there!.

The story is told is both Chloe and Theo's point of view. As the years pass we see Chloe mature and become a young lady and Mr. Black...well he's just a sexy guy that I loved from the beginning. He goes through an incredible tough time in his life. Chloe is there for him in ways he never imagined.

This story is passionate, the emotions are raw and at some point I'm really rooting for things to work out. But this story is also like watching a train wreck. You know it will happen, but just not sure how everyone will turn out in the end. I really liked the dynamic of Chloe and Izzy's friendship. I also appreciated the relationship between Chloe and Mr. Black prior to it turning into something romantic. This author makes the story believable. The forbidden factor and the execution of the story/plot was great. Many won't like the ending, but for me it makes the story realistic. It's bittersweet, but honest.
Let me start by saying, I absolutely loved this book. I was hesitant to even read 'Tainted Black' because as you know, most people don't share the same views when it comes to romance. Most people can't deal with the ugly that feels like blood has been drawn with the depth and drama surrounding true love. But I am so glad I took a chance. This book lifted my spirit, and had me chanting like I was a cheerleader. Chloe and Theo, oh my goodness, what can I say, they were the poster couple of tortured love. Age wasn't even the determining factor for me, it was the love of they shared for Theo's daughter. Life is strange... and unexpected...and full of surprises. But true love is endless. True love will find away. True love will move mountains and sacrifice everything for chance. True love...is Chloe and Theo. Shanora Williams, you are gifted!!!
