Going Green Heather S Ransom Books

What an insightfulf, entertaining, relevant book. Though written in such a way to appeal to a younger audience I loved the book and had to go back and reread the clever, thought-provoking details of a society that had been literally saved from the brink. The clever scientific details were well thought out and intriguing. The divisions and prejudices that have emerged in this society are mindful of our world, and one cannot help but make mental comparisons. I have to admit that several times in my reading I was struck by the poignancy of certain thoughts. I was not expecting to have my heart moved so. One example, page 39: the lead character is remembering a conversation with her long deceased mother, " 'What do we know about kindness, Calyssa? 'It's the universal remedy,' my chin lifted as my five-year old self proudly replied." I couldn't help but feel, it is the universal remedy. I recommend the book highly, especially for the young impressionable in our world. Good job Heather Ransom. It was a fun read and I can't wait for book two.

Going Green Heather S Ransom Books Reviews

Heather Ransom has created a fantastic world in her book. I love the premise, and what it says about the human race (sadly), that they can escape annihilation but manage to get back to the same backwards attitudes. But there's hope...
How much of who we are is nature vs nurture? In a not so far future, nature, nurture, and genetic enhancements help shape how one high-schooler, Calyssa Brentwood, filters her world. How do these factors influence her decisions and how she navigates in and out of her social circles? This book is a fantastic read, with a blend of real world science, and what ifs that seem totally possible. Young adults will relate to being torn between family, friends, and discovering their guiding principles. Going Green is action packed while emphasizing the importance of empathy, an open mind, and an open heart.
Going Green weaves elements of "coming of age" story with social commentary that feels oh so timely. At the same time, it never feel preachy. The pacing and character development are so smooth it's hard to believe this is only Ransom's first novel. Am already looking forward to the sequel. There will be a sequel, right?
I loved this book! It's fun, serious, genuine, nostalgic and feels very real - as it touches on some current and relevant topics (still relevant in the future), all the while delivering a solid coming-of-age story that really sparkles.

Heather Ransom's "tech" of the future is creative, logical, and wonderfully surprising. The memory bracelet is especially appealing (look forward to having one of those)!

This book was continually on my mind in between reads and it always left me wanting more. I can't wait to find out what happens to Calyssa next!
In Going Green, Ransom does a fantastic job of creating a believable story of a future where people can 'go Green' with the belief they are making to world a better place. As Calyssa Brentwood discovers, the choice comes with consequences she doesn't fully grasp until she is thrust into a visit that changes how she sees the world around her. Not everyone or everything is as advertised in her tidy world and she must decide what to do with the discovery.
Brilliant, tense and timely! I loved this book! Going Green pushes the envelope of scientific exploration, bigotry and greed. Ultimately, this riveting and complex story demonstrates our need to grow up, take responsibility for our decisions  and realize that doing the right thing for love is always the correct action to take regardless of the bottom line.
This timely and relevant dystopian novel hooks you instantly. The novel takes place in a future, where the human population has almost died out because of a virus that has destroyed all of the Earth’s plant life.

Because of this, scientists have come up with a way to save the planet by enhancing humans into hybrids. The process is called Going Green due to the physical changes involved and is considered to be the ultimate goal – to go green, join the upper echelons of Sci-City, and devote your life to technology and development. For those who cannot afford to have the enhancement procedure, a tougher future lies ahead, where they are ridiculed and deemed as drones, or worse they may join the rebel forces who fight against Sci-City and all that it stands for.
